What I've been up to

Hey everybody, you may (or may not) have noticed that I have been pretty quiet on my site here. I am still alive and well, and have been working on quite a few things in general which have prevented me from devoting pretty much any time to my site. I hope to get at least something new on here pretty soon but until then I will tell you what I have been working on:

First off, I have been quite busy at work redeveloping all of the software and web applications that run UWSP ResNet. We are redesigning the whole database which will waterfall down into redesigning every application that runs the system. I am the project manager for this project and will also be performing quality assurance on the code written by my employees. We are focusing on C# and ASP.NET in order to make everything easy to develop and effective on Windows.

I have also been working on a program that parses Kismet logs and allows easy analysis of those logs. Kismet is a free wireless audit and analysis tool available on Linux. The program generates XML log files that contain a ton of information regarding the scan and this information can be leveraged in many ways. My application is focused on making the logs easy to use and useful for identifying rogue access points in an enterprise environment. The program is written in C# with a target platform of Windows.

For my classes at school, I am working on a few large projects. The first project is a Full featured Flash Card application with student and teacher management for a simulated Third grade class. Another project I have taken on is a possible Kismet-Like application for windows that leverages the Monitor mode functionality present in Windows Vista and Windows 7. I hope to find a way to capture raw 802.11 frames from monitor mode and then parse them to generate similar data that Kismet has.

Finally, I have been working on the website and business plan for a new business venture of mine, MV Tech Innovations (mvtechinnovations.com). I hope to have that business up and running soon enough and will focus on Web development and Custom content management systems for business clients. The site has been a major project of mine, leveraging ASP.NET 4 and LINQ for data access.

As you can see, I have been busy, and unfortunately I have not been able to write any content for my own personal site. Hopefully I will get something new to share with you soon, and expect it to be focused on development rather than Windows or malware as that has been the focus of my time. As always, let me know if you have any ideas or any questions about anything and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Ryan
